E3 2001: Amazing New Shenmue 2 Shots
AM2's sequel has not been cancelled for Dreamcast. And it looks amazing!

You can now color us impressed.
The original Shenmue, when it arrived on Dreamcast in December of 1999 was easily the best looking videogame ever. So we were naturally expecting much from its sequel. Unfortunately, the early screenshots unveiled by Sega looked a bit iffy, with Sega's screen capture software failing in every way (did they buy a capture card or something?).
Thankfully, the problem has been resolved, and the screenshots released by Sega today remind us of why we love the Dreamcast's amazing visual quality. Ryo, Ren, Joy, Kaori, and all the various sections of Hong Kong are amazingly detailed and drawn with the same visual spledor of the original. Yes, this will be one of the system's last great hurrahs.
In addition to the screenshots, we also caught view of a Shenmue 2 video Sega has prepared for the show. The video is running in Sega's sealed off booth, and looked impressive from our vantage point, although we were a bit far away at the time to actually see everything clearly. Tomorrow, we expect to actually try the game out and will have more (lots more) then.
